StackOverflowed

Why should I join the community, what am I am to tell the others what to do?

I suppose everyone (at least those infected by software development), once in a time, check the StackOverflow. Those milions of viewers, mostly desperate developers all around the world, can now with almost no-brain effort check the answer for their daily problems, concerning application development or, sometime (hello there) just because they are curious. Thanks to contributors in StackOverflow.

Do you remember when was a last time you checked "The compete reference" book?
No?
Neither do I.

I was always in awe of those people, who helped the others, answering their (usually badly asked) questions, proposing new ideas. I was like - why the heck they do this, what's in it for them?

To be honest, I was so curious about this praticular question (But I am coward so I did not raised this question myself.), I decided to join the community. Some years ago, I actually asked one question (for those interested, it was about software testing tool), but those were left unanswered (poor me). So I went through easy tutorial, fill About me info (hell yeah, I am so SQLish, check me out) and... Look for the questions to answer.

Actually, I am no expert in SQL field at all, mostly just enthusiast, maybe a little bit more nerdy about SQL internals, But soon I discovered, it is fun to answering those questions. I was very happy when anyone at all thanked me for my help, or asked me for more information, maybe because he/she was curious, just like me.

There is some very strange satisfaction when helping each other, which is driving me deep into my memory, back to my nerdy books ad other experiences.

I soon realized that, it is not only learning by doing things, but, to reach some expertise, also learning by learning. So to be expert in some field (I still hope that some day...), one need to teach others, challenge his/her mind to find the solution to usualy very strange and specific problem.

Other good thing about checking those feeds is that you will feel some sympathy for those users, usually in position of slave of others pleople bad decisions. Every day, developers have to fight with bad decisions, not only and necessarily of others, but also their own (Yea, I should have done this before I code all this zillion-of-lines stuff...) This will melt your cold/code heart, I assure you!

So, feel free to join me in my journey into StackOverflow land, and check @sqlady there. :)
